The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), in partnership with Subic Bay International Terminals Corp. (SBITC), hosted the 23rd International Network of Affiliated Ports (INAP) Conference at the Grand Harbor Hotel in Subic, Zambales from 16 to 17 October.

With the theme “Innovating Best Practices for Environmental Protection and Disaster Management,” the two-day event was attended by local and foreign delegates from Cebu, Davao, Japan, India, China, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. 

Nicolette Ong, MICT and SBITC commercial head, was a keynote speaker in the conference. She highlighted the recent developments in SBITC’s operations and reiterated the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship. She also discussed disaster risk in port operations and detailed how SBITC is continuously improving its disaster management and resilience planning.

INAP delegates, together with SBMA executives headed by Engr. Eduardo Alinio, chairman and administrator, visited SBITC to observe the terminal’s operation on the second day. 

The Port of Subic is one of the founding members of INAP, which was established in 1998 in Japan. INAP members include the Port of Colombo in Sri Lanka, Port of Dangjin and Mokpo New Port in South Korea, Port of Kochi in Japan, Port of Qingdao in China, Port of Tanjung Perak in Indonesia, Port of Chittagong in Bangladesh, and Port of Subic Bay, Port of Cebu, and Port of Davao.
