November 7 marked a milestone for Subic Bay International Terminal Corp. (SBITC) as the terminal serviced its 100,000th TEU at the New Container Terminal 1 in Cubi Point.

Officers and staff of SBITC, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), and the Philippine Bureau of Customs were onsite to witness the offloading of the 40-foot container from MV Wan Hai 282.

The Port of Subic has seen an increase in container traffic starting last year as clients saw the potential of Subic as an alternative to the Port of Manila. This year, SBITC has made huge strides to position itself as the gateway to the northern and central Luzon, including the opening of a one-stop shop inside the New Container Terminal 1, acquisition of additional port equipment, implementation of pre-advise system for trucks and launching of a box repair and maintenance service.

Witnesses to a milestone (from left): Engr. Marcelino S. Sanqui, SBMA Senior Deputy Administrator for Port Operations; Atty. Ernelito G. Aquino, BOC-Port of Subic District Collector; Roberto V. Garcia, SBMA Chairman and Administrator; Roberto R. Locsin, SBITC General Manager; Santiago Fuentes III, SBITC Terminal Manager; Jerome M. Martinez, SBMA Seaport Department General Manager; and Armen C. Manlapat, SBITC Consultant.
